The Montgomery Ward Administration Building was built in 1930 in the Art Deco style and converted to 189 condominium lofts in 2000. To understand the historical significance of the building and assist with the new lobby design, we researched and compiled a 100 page "sketchbook" full of drawings, photos, catalog images and writings relevant to the building. Our design restores part of the lobby to its original configuration and adds new features that incorporate historical motifs and concepts while addressing practical needs for improved circulation, security, package storage and a contemporary lounge area.
